Knowing how to jump-start a car will save you some frustration if you have a dead battery. You will also feel recognition after jump-starting another person's vehicle and getting them out on the road again. It is always smart to keep a set of jumper cables in your vehicle.

Jump-Starting is Easy Locate the battery on each vehicle and place them in close enough proximity where the jumper cables will reach. With the car running, connect the red positive clamps on each battery terminal and then carefully connect the black negative clamps to each car's battery. Now you should be able to start the other car. If the vehicle doesn't start or almost starts this could be that you haven't made a good contact point with the clamps.
